How Alberta runs online gaming
Online gaming in Alberta is a regulated market. AGLC regulates it, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) handles its management. An online operator that wants to operate legally takes two steps: registering with AGLC and signing an operating agreement with AiGC. Once registered, an operator must make sure that anyone playing is physically inside Alberta.
The province operates Play Alberta, an online gaming site found at PlayAlberta.ca. AGLC operates it, and the money it makes is paid to the Government of Alberta. You must be 18 to gamble anywhere in this province. Any guest on a casino floor who seems to be under 25 will be asked to show valid government-issued photo ID.
A habit before any site
A quick check before using any online casino site is a sensible habit. At abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites, AiGC maintains a directory listing registered iGaming sites that anyone can consult to see whether an operator is authorised. An operator absent from the directory is not regulated, and approved operators also show the AiGC logo. This check applies to every site, including the one linked from this guide's home page.
Where this guide's money comes from
Paid links on The Kananaskis Weekender sit only on its front page, and each carries the Ad label. The three sit in the menu as a button, in a block directly after the opening screen and toward the foot of the page. All three go to a single online casino partner, and the guide receives a commission from it. The partner may change. No paid links appear on inner pages.
That partner is not the resort and not Play Alberta. It has no connection with Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino or the Stoney Nakoda Nation. No bets, accounts or cashier are handled by the guide itself. You are welcome to look up any site in the AiGC directory, the partner among them.
